Four intrepid Scottish crime writers continue their world tour of Scotland with Crime Factor. On Thursday 23 June at 7.30pm Neil Broadfoot, GJ Brown, Mark Leggatt and Douglas Skelton, along with Peter Burnett in the chair, will be welcoming crime writing fans to Reuben's, 14 New Row, Dunfermline. As reader-in-residence at Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival it’s my pleasure to tour the libraries of the north annually, to facilitate a discussion about crime fiction through the Big Read initiative. The idea is to reach out to communities; to encourage literacy by getting everyone to read the same novel simultaneously. I’m delighted to share the news that the 2017 title is Ian Rankin’s Black and Blue, a Rebus novel published by Orion.

Drawing from fiction and from the lived experience of two mothers directly affected by crime related deaths, the dialogue will explore the potential in Scotland for restorative practices to address some of the needs of those who have seen harm caused to a wide range of people in their family network.
